Each and every website created is as unique as the business it is created for.

Therefore it would be unwise to base any kind of guestimate on a 'price list' of options. Sadly, it isn't that simple. Many web designers offer a price list in the hope that you will be impressed by how cheap things appear to be (even we used to do it) but the reality is that no price list can ever be comprehensive enough to cover every eventuality and every requirement.

End build prices are affected by a number of elements... how many pages, whether there are interactive contents/features or self managed features, the number of images requiring processing etc etc. The list goes on and on.

We prefer to charge you based upon the ACTUAL TIME it takes to complete your project.

We then offer you two options;

You may select to buy the copyrights to the coding for the site outright in which case you may take it away, host it anywhere you like and allow other designers/developers to maintain your site (if you so choose). For this, we charge by the hour at £50p/h+VAT inclusive of IP Release

Should you wish, we can retain the intellectual property (IP)* for the coding for your site and provide hosting for your site on our super fast, super reliable UK based servers. If so, our hourly development cost is halved to £25p/h+VAT. Please read the notes below

Should you leave the intellectual property for your site with us?
There's no easy answer. Certainly if your budget is tight, it may be worth considering.
What does leaving the intellectual property with us mean?
With any website project, we spend time creating scripting and coding to deliver your site. We would own the coyright on any source coding for scripted elements of your site where such coding was created by us. The content of your website (the words and pictures) are YOUR property at all times.
What impact would leaving the intellectual property with us have?
In the short term... none with the exception that your site MUST be hosted by us.
In the longer term no third party is to be granted access to the source code for any scripting contained within the site. In short all maintenance tasks, except those provided for within content management system areas, may only be carried out by us at our prevailing hourly rate.
What happens if we are unsatisfied with your service and want to move our site and/or have someone else maintain or add to it?
In our experience, a move from one designer/developer to another is accompanied by the building of a totally new site. As the text and image content remains yours, you simply take what is yours and move on. The site will be removed from our servers and your new site appears.
However, if you wish to take the site we constructed with you such that someone else takes over the management of it, then you will be required to pay an Intellectual Property Release Fee. This release fee varies from one site to the next and is the equivalent of 100% of all coding time invested from the start of the project to the termination date. This is effectively the same amount that has been saved over the course of our provision by our retention of the intellectual property.
Please note that we do not provide hosting for sites which are not maintained by us. This is purely for security purposes. Web servers are often the target of hackers. We operate a full lockdown policy where only our employees have access to the file system on the servers. Should you wish a third party to be able to modify your site (except by means of provided CMS features) you will be required to move the site to alternative hosting providiors and pay any relevant IP release fees.
